Deep root fertilization is a professional treatment designed to improve the health of trees by injecting a high quality nutrient solution deep into the soil close to the trees' root systems. The materials are injected into the root zone under pressure, which helps aerate or provide much needed oxygen to the root system. The injections begin right below the surface and go to a depth of 12-14 inches.  Soil injection sites are placed 2-3 feet apart in a grid pattern under the canopy of the tree to the drip line. The results are improved the oxygen content, microbial activity, and nutrient levels around the roots.

What are the benefits of deep root fertilization?

  • Rejuvenates and improves soil structure
  • Stimulates tree roots and stem growth
  • Provides continuous feeding of the tree roots throughout the season with slow release nitrogen
  • Encourages symbiotic activity
  • Promotes a greener leaf color and increases foliage density
  • Promotes better drainage in heavy clay soils
  • Corrects deficiencies (including decline and chlorosis – yellowing of leaves)
  • Increases oxygen content of soil by breaking-up compacted soil around the tree roots
  • Improve disease resistance of your tree
  • Improves drought resistance of your tree

Which trees should I fertilize?

While all trees benefit from root feeding, certain trees are prime candidates:

  • Very old trees
  • Newly planted trees
  • Trees near construction sites
  • Trees that are the centerpiece of your landscape
