Why Do We Recommend the Pruning of Trees?

There are many reasons we recommend tree pruning

At Smith Tree and Landscape, certified arborists conduct all of our tree inspections.  When our experts recommend tree trimming, it is usually for one of the following reasons:

Sanitation:  To maintain healthy trees, it is important to remove dead and diseased wood.  This reduces potential disease activity and creates a more efficient, resistant plant.

Hazard:  Over the years, large, older trees accumulate large dead limbs that threaten the safety of people and property.

Clearance:  Trees encroach on buildings and roofs.  Branches need to rasied to clear sidewalks, streets and driveways.

Structure:  Many defects in tree structure can be eliminated through proper pruning.  With proper pruning, crossing limbs and weak joints are addressed when trees are young, minimizing problems and maintenance costs in the future.
